The Future of Learning
The 21st century has been rightly termed as the digital era. With the internet bringing a substantial change in people live, we are heavily dependent on the usage of technology to even complete simple tasks. Technology tools play an important role in helping learners and teachers to get more benefits.
Digital learning means bringing this together in a format that fits today’s digital world of work. All great learning organizations should deliver learning solutions through simulations, collaboration, meeting other people and learning from experts. What drives the second wave are two fundamental shifts in the market. First: consumers expect more. Does it make sense to charge students thousands of dollars for what is essentially an HTML page with links to reading materials and a discussion board? Maybe not when a growing number of students have gotten used to the super rich and personalized experiences provided by techs in their everyday lives, such as PlayStation, Netflix, and Facebook. There’s also a shift taking place in student profiles — more students are pursuing education while balancing work and life responsibilities.
This could be partly attributed to an increase in the of students enrolling in degree-granting post-secondary institutions over the age of 25. The latest data from the National Center for Education Statistics also show that the number of part-time students rose by 15 percent between 2005 and 2015, and is projected to continue to rise. Additionally, the age of students in higher education is changing. Hence, there is a rise in nontraditional and part-time learners, with equally growing expectations for the sophistication of learning technology.
The Digital Learning which was introduced only a few years ago has been warmly and graciously welcomed by the world. A lot has been achieved in this area but still, the journey is not a complete and long way to go. The digital learning and teaching community, as well as the learners, can take comprehensive advantage of the technology and more interesting thereby breaking the shackles of conventional teaching methods. The modern-day education is to ascend many more steps further and bring an enormous change in society.
