Skilling, Reskilling, and Upskilling in Digital Era
Today, in this uncertain situation, we cannot ignore the fact that many people have lost their jobs, careers, and opportunities. The existence of the COVID-19 pandemic and technological developments is impactful, one of which is the replacement of the human position by technology which is usually called, “Automation”. Then, what can we do to survive and continue living?
Everyone needs to do “Skilling”, where as beginners, we need to learn and equip ourselves with relevant skills. But along with the changes and developments of the times, have we ever realized and questioned whether the skills we already have can still be used and productive, or are they just routines that can be replaced by technology?
For that, it can be said, although skilling is important, we can’t just stop at the “Skilling” stage. We also need “Reskilling” and “Upskilling”. Reskilling is when we reform and improve the skills we already have before. Upskilling is about how we sharpen the skills we already have by adapting, improving, and updating our skills to become a better version.
We need to know exactly what we need to do right now. Whether we have to Skilling, Reskilling, or Upskilling, it depends on its relevance to our current situation and condition as well as challenges and we must do these three of them.
Today’s digital era provides us with a lot of content that can help us to Skilling, Reskilling, and Upskilling and survive in the face of the ‘demands’ of a world that is growing very rapidly.
Unfortunately, many people are stuck in their comfort zone and feel satisfied and secure with what they already have. Everyone can do everything to the fullest. However, not everyone wants to get out of their comfort zone and tends to rebel when there is competition. Therefore, don’t let yourself get stuck in comfort zones and routines that will make us reluctant to improve and renew our quality and competence.
